History of International Journal of Real Estate Studies (INTREST)

The International Journal of Real Estate Studies (INTREST), originally known as the Malaysian Journal of Real Estate (MaJORE), is dedicated to publishing original research that advances theory, practice, and knowledge in the fields of real estate and land administration. MaJORE was established to focus on critical global perspectives within the real estate domain, serving scholars, educators, students, practitioners, policy-makers, and consultants worldwide.

The transition from MaJORE to INTREST marked a significant evolution, expanding the journal's scope and influence in the academic community. With a commitment to maintaining a rigorous peer-review process and an international editorial board, INTREST strives to capture contributions from both local and international authors. The journal continues to foster a rich exchange of knowledge and ideas, ensuring its relevance and importance in the global real estate field.

Peer Review Process

The International Journal of Real Estate Studies (INTREST) employs rigorous peer review processes to ensure the integrity and quality of the research it publishes. To maintain high standards and originality, INTREST uses plagiarism detection software to screen submissions before publication.

INTREST operates a conventional double-blind review policy. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure impartiality. Authors are expected to submit their work with honesty, free from fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or inappropriate data manipulation.

Submitted manuscripts are initially evaluated by the editors to determine if they meet the journal's criteria for quality and relevance. Manuscripts that pass this initial screening are sent to at least two anonymous reviewers. These reviewers may be members of the Editorial Board or other experts with substantial expertise in the relevant field. Reviewers evaluate submissions based on criteria such as knowledge contribution, originality, relevance, and presentation.

The Editors aim to provide a decision within 10 weeks from submission. In some cases, to expedite the review process, the Editors may make an immediate decision on a manuscript without external review. All editorial decisions are final, and no further correspondence will be entertained regarding manuscripts deemed unsuitable for publication.

All communication, including the notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revisions, will be conducted via email.

Special issues or conference proceedings may follow different peer review procedures, which might involve Guest Editors, conference organizers, or scientific committees. Detailed peer review processes for these special publications are available upon request from the editorial office.
